I am very upset right now!!! Perhaps someone can help explain what went wrong.
I have a Wishlist that records all Formula 1 races, first run only.
I noticed that the red record light was on this morning and checked my List to see what was recording. Sure enough, the British GP was recording from my local channel CBS affiliate, which started at 10am. Cool! The red record light went off awhile later, so I figured the race had finished.
When I went back into the Formula 1 folder, the race that had been recording earlier was gone. Now, I know for sure when I went in there while it was recording, there were three items (British GP Practice from Friday, British GP Quali from Saturday and the race that was recording from this morning). Now there are only the first two items.
When I checked the recording history, there was some interesting info that I don't quite understand. It said showed 3 instances of the British GP race that weren't recorded. The first was from channel 385 CBSE (which I don't recieve) and it said "did not record because no signal on Sat 1". The second was from channel 5 (my local CBS affiliate that DID record) and it said "did not record because it was a duplicate within 28 days, change Type to "All (with duplicates)". The third was from channel 381 CBSW (which I also don't receive) and said the same duplicate message as number 2.
My frustration is that I SAW IT RECORDING! Then Tivo took it away! Is it still there? Why did it take it from my List? What went wrong here?
Thanks,
Gary

Thanks,
GaryYes, if you have hacked your unit and have TiVoWebPlus installed, then you can restore a deleted recording.
Sounds like you need to setup your "Channels You Receive".

See if it was recorded as a suggestion.

You need to tell your TiVo that you do not receive channel 385CBSE & 381CBSW. Your "British GP" wishlist found a program available to record on 3 channels at the same time. Not knowing that you do not receive 385 CBSE, it scheduled a recording on that channel. It did not schedule recordings on the other channels because that would violate the 28 day rule. TiVo attempted to record that program until the scheduled end time but never got a signal.
Go through your channels I receive list and uncheck every channel you do not receive (or wish to receive), especially the distant network and sports package channels.

I had the same thing happen to me. I went to watch the race last night andit wasn't there. I record every practice, quali, and race each round and this has never happened before.
The only positive is that it will be on Friday on Speed. I won't have to listen to those idiots on CBS.

Martin,
Thanks for your reply. That makes sense. You would think that they would build the intelligence into these boxes to automatically determine which channels get signal and strip them out for us. Is there an easier way than flipping through the channels, writing down the ones that don't have signal, then going into the Channels You Have menu and manually removing them?
Landshark21,
I'm right there with you, man. It may not be a bad thing to miss Daley or Sullivan commenting. Hey, do you know that they count the laps backwards in F1?!

....You would think that they would build the intelligence into these boxes to automatically determine which channels get signal and strip them out for us.....They don't have time for that - they are too busy adding back the shopping channels that I constantly delete. ;)
You will have to manually remove them in the setting, channels I receive area, but that goes fairly quickly. As to determining which ones you do get - rather than channel surfing, use a DTV listing of what channels are in their packages and use that as a guide, adusting it for the national feeds. I have reset mine in a matter of about 2-3 minutes when I have switched boxes, or gone from Platinum back down to Total Choice.
