My HR10-250 will not record anything. An error message pops up saying that it is an internal error when trying to add to the To Do List. Error message #86.
Anyone have any experience with this?

I haven't experienced it, but have you tried a restart to remedy it?

Rebooting solved the problem. I hope it is a one time glitch. This is my third HR10-250 and I didn't want the hassle of getting a fourth unit and then having to fight D* when they restart my commitment.

This weekend I started doing weekly reboots to hopefully avoid any problems like this again. On both machines (old and new), i've had 'channels not available' come up and missed recordings. Since it's both machines it has to be either a general tivo problem or directv. It just seems like this is the only way to help 'prevent' such errors I hope.

Rebooting solved the problem.
Glad to hear it.

I just got this error 86 too on my HR10-250, can't record current program, can't record future program from the guide either.
I also can't pull up a program from the Now Playing List, when I have a program highlighted and press the right arrow it takes me to DirecTV Central.
Something is definitely wrong here but I don't want to reboot now the news is on with a bus hostage situation that has I-94 closed in both direction which I just happened to drive by when the first couple sheriff squad cars were there. Later there were more then 20 there.
If the problem continues you can try the "clear program data and to do list" option and it will probably fix the problem permanently. If not, then you're probably stuck with rebooting constantly or fighting with DTV for a replacement without extending your commitment.
