If you have a Season Pass for Cycling on OLN, you may not get all the shows. It appears that when a race spans weekends, the season pass picks up the second week show as a repeat and does not automatically program it. This is complicated by the fact that the Sunday shows are repeated on Monday.

For example, this Sunday, OLN will be broadcasting the final stage on the Dauphine Libere followed by the second stage of the Tour de Suisse. As OLN showed the the beginning of the Dauphine Libere the previous week, only the Tour de Suisse was picked up for recording. Similarly, the conclusion of the Tour de Suisse next week was not picked up for automatic recording.

My S1 shows the Tour de Susse over the next couple of weeks as being the 2005 edition.

Often, the descriptions claim they are showing last year's race when they are showing the current one. I think that someone just copies the old entry. You need to check against a cycling calendar (e.g. http://www.cyclingnews.com).

Some additional notes on problems after actually watching today's broadcast:

1. Although the listing was for 2 1-hour long broadacasts, the coverage of the 1st race lasted about 1:15 and the second was for 45 minutes. In broadcasting, they obviously decided to treat it as 1 2-hour block.

2. Because I had noticed that next Sunday's Tour de Suisse was listed as a repeat, I selected it to be recorded. However, that had the unintentional consequence of deleting the request for today. Fortunately, I was already watching the 1st hour and noticed that recording had stopped. I jumped to 'Live TV' and hit the instant record button to capture the buffer and rest of show (I was only 10 minutes in at the time). Of course, I had to record at Best Quality to get the buffer. Note that did not affect the automatic recording of next Sunday's show.

Of course it helps to also pay attention to when Phil Ligget tells you on the OLN broadcast what is coming up the next week. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up on this -- otherwise I might have missed the coverage today.

As you discovered, trying to hand-select the episodes you want may have unintended consequences. I would suggest an auto-recording wishlist for Cycling that is set either to "First Run and Repeats" or "All (with duplicates)", and then de-selecting the episodes which you don't want. This will pick up episodes which are missed by an SP set to FRO, but allows you to leave your original SP in place.

It makes a strong visual contrast in the To Do List that way, with the episodes picked up by the SP with their double-checkmark, and the ones from the ARWL with the blue star. The blue star episodes really pop out, making them easy to find if you want to look at them.

P.S. I've seen the same guide data scenario that you described in your point #1 before -- if you have plenty of hard disk space, you can get a clean unbroken recording by just padding the initial timeslot by an hour. If you are tight on disc space, it's better to leave the two timeslots as is so you can delete the first hour after you have finished watching it.
