I just ordered one of the free HDTivo's mentioned in another thread to go along with the HDTivo I already had.

The D* CSR didn't act like I would have any problem connecting them both to the same HDTV. I've got the inputs on the TV to make it work but I started wondering if I would have trouble with the remotes. Will they know which Tivo I'm trying to control somehow? I know my old Standalone Tivo had a way of switching which Tivo I wanted to control.

Am I gonna have troubles with the remotes or anything else to connect them both to one TV?

Thanks in advance.

You should not any problems controlling the 2 TiVos. See this:

I have 3 HR10-400's and 2 SD-400's connected to a Sony 61" projection TV with no problems.
Just look in the manual to see how to set up different channels on the remotes.

This may be a dumb question but don't most HD TVs only have one high def input? I think my TV only has one input - is there a way around this?

You can use a component video and/or an HDMI switch. I use a component switch for my HR10-250 and my Xbox. My DVI input is occupied by my DVD player.

I have 2 stacked units and component is virtually the same pic as hdmi. I think newer tvs are going to start having 2 hdmi but our 'old' tvs will just have to get by with 1.

page 115 of the manual is your friend for setting remote codes...dont forget to never leave your system info screen open on both machines at the same time...my wife did that accidentally while checking temps one day but as i never told her not to do it, it wasn't her fault..

kinda funny seeing both tivos operate at the same time..until you press delete...............

and now might be a time to get your favorite universal remote. I prefered the T60 layout so got a sony vl900 remote but if you like the peanut, you'd hate it. it's all reversed, numbers at the top.

My TV has two component inputs as does my receiver, so I can connect three devices to the two TV inputs without switching. I don't have HDMI on my Panny 53" W/S HDTV.

If I needed more inputs, I'd get a component switch.

Thanks. I didn't realize component gave HD quality. I thought it had to be HDMI.

You can connect a computer to component inputs and use an HDTV as a monitor. A utility such as Powerstrip is needed to get the correct resolutions for an HDTV.

Normally, the only way to view DVDs upscaled to 720p or 1080i is to use a DVI or HDMI input; Macrovision on DVDs prevents them from being viewed at higher resolutions greater than 480p using component inputs. If you have a computer connected to your TV and are using something such as AnyDVD to remove the Macrovision, you can watch upscaled DVD movies using component inputs.
