I used the command:
mfsbackup -f 9999 -so - /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdd
to upgrade my DT80 to 500gb. When it finished it said the New Estimated Standalone Size was 174 hours, 96 more. What did I do wrong?

Are you sure you are using an LBA48 version of MFStools? Also you will want a swap file of 250 instead of 127, then run tpip after the restore.

I downloaded TPIP 1.2, but don't have a clue about what to do with it.

Tpip command is tpip -1 -s /dev/hd? and then you should see a message stating swap file set at 250MB. This has nothing to do with getting your capacity up to where it should be but helps solve other potential problems.
Your Mfsrestore command line looks fine.

Should I do the restore and backup again and then run the tpip command, or should I add the tpip command to the backup restore string after the pipe character?
Any ideas on why it is not recognizing the entire 500gb?

Not sure. I just use tpip 1.1 which is part of MFStools. After the restore command is done running and you get a new Linux prompt is when you run tpip. If you use version 1.1 the command is tpip --swapped -s /dev/hd?

I have an idea about the other problem of not recognizing the entire 500gb.
