I got an advanced copy.

I couldn't wait to see it. I think Louis CK is one of the funniest comics working today and a brilliant writer. His credits working with other well-known comedians (Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle) is impressive. Maybe I had it built up in my mind too much, but I was disappointed.

First of all the writing was actually pretty average. Sure they can get away with more provocative language and subject matter on HBO, but take away that and it's no more interesting than "My Wife and Kids" or "According to Jim".

Actually they have better acting on the 2 shows I just mentioned.

Louis CK is surrounded by a collection of comedians when he should be working with really good actors instead. One familiar face is TV character actor Michael G. Hagerty. But no one can infuse this show with any real believability. The kid playing his daughter is truly attrocious.

All the situations seems forced and insincere.

CK is trying to recapture the spirit old sitcoms like "The Honeymooners"...only dirtier. The cast is just not there though, and the writing will really need to be upgraded to mirror any assemblance of earlier successes of similar shows.

I did chortle a couple of times. One notable moment was when Louis CK apparently ad libbed a line about getting a B.J..
They film this in front of a live audience, but it makes no difference. They might as well use a laugh track.

I'll keep watching for the time being. Maybe I'll enjoy it more now that my expectations have been lowered.

Sounds like my first impression of most sitcom pilots. You gotta give it a few episodes toget a good feel of it.

I saw some previews of it on HBO. It looks kinda low budget and amateur.

I'll give it a try, but I'm not expecting great things.

I've seen the ads on HBO and just from those brief clips, it looks awful. I thought, if that's the best they can show us in these promos, this show is in serious trouble. It looked so bad that I thought I was missing out on the joke, like it's supposed to be "so bad it's good" or something.

Why does an HBO show have a live studio audience? The thing I like about HBO shows is the lack of a "laugh track".
