I love a happy ending.

Harold and Rose get a baby to raise.
Edna gets to stick around and be a grandma.
Bright does something selfless for Hannah -- and is going to get her back.
Nina and Andy are getting married.
Amy and Ephram are back together.
And most important...

Delia gets a pony!

:D

I think every TV series should be required to do a series finale each season -- just in case.

This show will be missed, it had to be one of the best shows on TV. I almost wish that they didn't make the super happy ending as it might have made it harder for CW to have canceled it.

I've heard that because of the high ratings for 7th Heaven's last episode "CW" decided to renew it instead of Everwood. :(

What a amazing show. The best show the WB ever had!!! I would have liked them to end it with Ephram and Amy on the bench up in the mountains though. However there is allot they could do for another season.

I thought it was almost perfect. A fitting end, although if it somehow came back, I'd be just as happy ;)

I wonder what was in the alternate "season ending" version...

Hopefully on the DVD set, if it ever comes around. We're still stuck on Season One.

That was enjoyable, now sometime I have to go back and watch the first several years of the series. ;)

Yeah, I wonder what the deal is with the lack of later seasons on DVD. My GF nearly killed me when I got her hooked on Season 1 and there was no easy way to resolve the first season cliffhanger in an orderly fashion ;)

Indeed, a fit ending for a terrific show.

I've always felt that Treat Williams was sadly overlooked for an Emmy nomination. His Andy Brown has been a real gem.

Everwood wasn't just good, it was great. It was always entertaining, warm, and well acted, and I know that I'll have an empty space on Monday nights come next tv viewing season. The family drama is about extinct but this was one show truly worth keeping.

This finale ended like I wanted it to end and there was no other way that it could end. Thanks for four great years.

In reply I just have to say "ditto", I enjoyed the ending too. I really would liked to have seen it renewed.

Only thing I was sad to see Irv pass so soon, was really happy for him when Edna said she was ready for phase 3. We know now that phase 3 will be without him.

I was really hoping early this season that would find a way to write Jake out and Andy and Nina would be together sooner glad to see it did happen.

Madison came back.
What was weird is that they showed that never to be seen scene in the promos for the show.

Fantastic finale, one of the best series / season finales I've seen all year.

Jake is such a little boy, so I'm glad he broke it off with Nina. She is a strong, independent woman, and she needs a "real" man in her life (like Andy).

Amy and Ephram are a train wreck waiting to happen, so it's just as well that the show ended when it did.

I can only hope that Greg Berlanti creates another show as good as this one.

I thought this was a great series, well acted and well written, but I'll have to throw in a dissenting opinion. I didn't hate this finale, just found it too trite in comparison with the series as a whole. No drama, everyone has a happy ending, quite contrary to the rest of the series. I think as some examples, Madison returning with her child (dealing with the realities of life, the heart of this show), Edna actually going to Africa (remember how she first appeared riding a motorcycle?), even a final visit from the ghost of Julia (remember how she was so key as an insight into Andy's grief?) would have been much more interesting, and achieve what the best finales do, come full circle, but showing the true growth of the characters.

And that is the problem with cancelling a show at the last minute. There aren't many opportunities to get the right endings with the right amount of build up for all the subplots.

I always thought Tom Amandes was grossly overlooked. Especially season 2 when he was dealing with Amy spiraling out of control due to Colin's death and Bright getting bad grades and kicked off the football. That man did some fine acting that year.

I'm going to say 'ditto' as well.

Everwood has been my favorite show for four years now. Even before I had a TiVo, I didn't miss an episode. I've loved the show from day one.

That was a great ending. I'm glad they at least had enough time to throw us some sort of bone. Is it how I would have wanted it to end, if it were a season finale? Of course not!

I enjoyed Ephram's new girlfriend. I really liked her. And I could see the potential for all sorts of storylines for next year. This show still had a lot of juice left in it.

Even if it was hurried, and little trite, at least they threw us a bone of tying up a bunch of loose ends, and giving everyone a happy ending. Considering how mad I am that the show is cancelled...I'll take what I can get.

Farewell, Everwood. And thanks for an enjoyable four years.

Argh!!! My Tivo missed the last five minutes!!!

Ouch.

If only they could've added a scene at Andy and Nina's wedding, where everybody is dancing to the tune of Roy Orbison's "You Got It," Madison shows up with a truly ugly baby in her arms, Ephram sees her and says, "You came!", and she looks at him and says, "Ephram, we have to talk."

Then they would've gotten 8 million viewers (instead of only 4 million) and the show would've been renewed.

:D

Argh!!! My Tivo missed the last five minutes!!!

I hate when that happens. I thought the ending was good but predictable, almost too neat and unimaginative. I also enjoyed this show and every season felt it was on life support so the suspense of whether it would last or be canceled always loomed. The other recently defunct family drama I enjoyed was "American Dream" which was supposed to have an episode or two to tie that up but it never happened. Does anybody know what happened to the Series Finale of that show?

This is one of those shows that would be ripe for a TV movie from time to time.

The finale was completely predictable at almost every point, and yes, everything was tied up a bit too neatly with a nice shiny bow at the end.

But this is Everwood. It's sentimental and wholesome and optimistic, not dark and edgy, and that's what its fans like about it. So the feel-good finale is what the fans wanted and expected, and anything else probably would have disappointed a lot of people. In the end, I was a sucker for the Amy-Ephram montage and the whole ferris wheel thing as much as anyone. It was a nice send-off for a great show.

The year Everwood started was the year I decided to check out as many new shows as I could watch. This even meant shows that I probably would not normally watch and Everwood was one of those shows. I expected Everwood to be like Dawson's Creek and it may have been as I did not watch Dawson's Creek but that was my perception of Everwood. I figured I would give it a try and stop watching after 1 or 2 shows. Well I was hooked.

I enjoyed the premise of Andy's wife dieing and him trying to cope with that. I enjoyed the conflict between Andy and Ephram. I also enjoyed the crush Ephram had on Amy. It all evolved into an excellent show.

I also agree that the show wrapped up into a nice tidy package but I don't think you could really do it any other way. The one thing that I think they should have done is to have Irv narrate at the end of the show like they did in the first season. It would have been a way to put him in the last episode and it would have been reminiscent of the first season.

Enjoyed the finale but also am going to miss it like crazy.

I have a questoin. How did Amy get the ferris wheel up in the street and running without Ephram or anyone else noticing? I mean, shouldnt it be noisy to bring, setup, test, and run? Not to mention the light it would produce.

Ephram said on the phone to Stephanie that his 5 minute shower turned into a 30 minute one, so maybe all the noise happend while he was in there :D

There's not much to say, but farewell to a great show. It will be missed. I think CW made a mistake by renewing 7th Heaven--that show is tired. I really enjoyed the Everwood finale even if it was a little predictable.

I woke up early today and finally watched the finale before work. I cried happy tears. I know it was corny, but I loved it. I was emotionally exhausted before my day ever started.

I've loved both Everwood and Gilmore Girls from the beginning. I wish Gilmore Girls had been the one to go though. I feel like GG has told all the stories there are to tell, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to my friends in Everwood.

Pam, I think most of us aren't ready to let them go either. I could use some EVERWOOD therapy seriously... as I have had issues of depression almost because of it (sounds stupid I know). And tonight is the first time I will not have any new Everwood.

I have been watching the show thru from S1 again recently. I'm about half way thru S2 now. Its wierd how I 'remember' the show and how it 'actually is'. I felt that S4 was very similar in style to S1 in many ways even tho it was quite different overall with the characters and situations.

And S2 was more dark and full of anger, while S3 really tried to get back to a more happy place that was filled with drama.

I kept the ending on my tivo, need to make a DVD set of it. And hoping for the box sets for 2-4 to be announced hopefully.
