President Logan & Hands

I was finishing up my Season 2 DVD set of 21 Jump Street... one of the characters in the episode "Brother Hanson & the Miracle of Renner's Pond (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0501970/)" annoyed me greatly, then I realized why... he reminded me of President Logan on 24. Sure enough, a very young Gregory Itzin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0411857/) was playing the character on 21 Jump Street. He carried himself just like he did in 24; bent head, indecisively talking in phrases... just like a younger version of President Logan. No acting is involved, this guy is just playing himself.

And then the episode right after ("Raising Marijuana (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0502023/)") I notice another resemblance with a character I find annoying... "Hands" on Boston Legal. Sure enough it's Christian Clemenson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0166061/) in his younger days. Though his character in 21 Jump Street wasn't all that annoying.

Damn... Brad Pitt was in the very next episode... "Best Years of Your Life (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0501965/)"

That made up for having to sit through President Logan.

Did he lick the roof of his mouth to indicate he was thinking? MAN that bugs me about Itzin, he's done it in a couple things I've seen him in (Firefly for one). But every actor usually has something like that... Al Pacino puts his finger in his ear (once you notice it, it's pretty obvious, hoo-haa). Kiefer Sutherland does this eye & head dart thing.

That tongue to the roof of the mouth just bothers me about Itzin.

Now Christian Clemenson... how can you not remember him from Brisco County Jr.? When they introduced Hands, I immediately recognized him. But I'm really good at recognizing character actors.

In Season 1 of the A-Team, in Episode 10 (West Coast Turnaround) Dennis Haysbert plays a vet or something. Can't remember the details exactly, but it involves Murdoch acting all crazy, and Haysbert was supposed to sign him out or something?? Anyway that was 18 years before he became President Palmer. I don't even think he had a line in that episode, but he was a big boy even back then.

BTW the Sutherland head dart thing is cool. :cool:

I remember the show, but don't remember ever watching it, so that's probably why I don't recognize him from it. ;)

Now after looking at a synopsis, makes me wonder why I didn't watch it... maybe it conflicted with some other show I was into more. The DVD set comes out in July, so maybe I'll pick it up and check it out.
