I will tell you my goal and maybe someone can help steer me in the right direction.
I have an SVR2000 unit ( a few actually) that do NOT have harddrives...
Now I have a few hard drives lying around over 20 gig... Once I obtain the SVR2000.bak and have it on CD how can I point the restoration to that image file and have it create a brand new tivo acceptable harddrive for me?

I purchased instantcake, but am still awaiting the download link... so I wanted to see if there was another way to do this as I am inpatient.

So if I can obtain the .bak file, do I put it into a directory on an NFTS formatted partition? and what directory do I put it into?

any help you can provide would be appreciated!
thanks

well, you'll need at least a 30GB drive for the SVR-2000, and you can't use an NTFS partition to create your Tivo drive.
I suggest you read, (http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php) read, (http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/) and read some more... (http://tivo.stevejenkins.com/)
