I want to remove a 320gb drive from single tuner SA Series 2 unit and put it in the new Dual Tuner unit I just bought. I also want to keep the recordings on that drive. I assume I should use MFS Tools, but I need to know if there are any special precautions I should take since the drive has already been used in a single tuner unit. I have never used MFS Tools. I upgraded my other units with Instant Cake.

You can make it work in new DT but definitely will not be able to preserve recordings since those are tied to the motherboard in the existing unit.

The only way to save the recordings is to transfer them to your PC using Tivo-To-Go, upgrade the DT Tivo and then transfer the recordings from the PC to the upgraded DT Tivo.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll just break into my piggy-bank and get another 300-320gb drive for the DT. They are pretty cheap these days.
