View Full Version : New Sky box = problems

My 6 year old 1st generation Panasonic Sky box died the other week. £65 to Sky later, I have a Pace and a new LNB.

For years, I've had faultless (99.99%) channel changes using the front Blaster (not wands), but since getting the Pace, I'd say I'm down to about 75% accuracy. Seems to be entering two many digits (same old from reading a few posts). Eg, trying to change to channel 101, it does 1001, or occasionally, Sky box picks this up as 1101 or something equally daft.

I've been in and changed the code, and tried Fast, Medium and slow - all doing the same problem. Currently using 20000 - Slow.

(I don't have any wands to hand - time to get some I think from eBay). Anyone have any other suggestions that I might be missing? What codes are people using for a white Pace SkyD box?

Pace boxes should work with the generic "SKY DIGITAL" codes - eg. 20016 AFAIK.

Soon after buying my Tivo I invested in a Sky-Eye device to replace the hopeless Tivo wands and blasters. I have never looked back and would recommend it to anyone.

It works 100% perfectly. End of story.

Never a problem here with PACE 20016

2 votes for 20016 seems positive - can't argue with that. I'll change when she's not recording something (its a Sunday, so motorsport rules TiVo :) )

Hmmm .. no 20016 under PACE (nor PACE MSS, whatever MSS is). So I'm trying 20014. Initial testing seemed OK (no failure in 25+ changes). We'll see how it goes.

Try just usingb one wand, hide the other one.

Typical. In test, everything is OK. In "production" as it were - I've still got double digits.

I can't believe that a change of digibox can have such a dramatic effect in TiVo's ability to change channel.

Try just usingb one wand, hide the other one.

I don't have any .. ref first post. I'm scanning ebay / calling customer services.

I don't have any .. ref first post. I'm scanning ebay / calling customer services.Do yourself a favour. Forget the blaster. Forget the wand. Buy a Sky-Eye. Plug it in. Forget about missed channel changes forever.

It would be utter madness to waste good money on a new wand when you can buy a Sky-Eye instead.

Why should he pay out for a Sky-Eye when Tivo CS will probably send him something for free? ;)

True enough, but he also mentioned Ebay which wasn't free the last time I looked.

I would still rather buy a Sky-Eye than use the free wands. In fact, that's exactly what I did.
