Ok, I did good, right? Bought 2 DLP tv's on Memorial Day. Got home, hooked up tivo, no prob. Tried to use peanut remote and remembered that I needed to change the codes. Ok, went through all of them and now, all I have is the ability to change channels with peanut - the on/off and volume don't work :*(
any suggestions before my family goes nuts. 4 year old knows how to work the peanut, even Better Half, but do NOT LIKE TV REMOTE. Told me to fix it....
IF it helps, I bought a Magnavox (tired all the codes - no dice) mod. 50ml8105d

Most likely the TiVo remote doesn't have the codes for the new TV. Check the manual for instructions on how to search for a code for your TV.

The newest magnavoxes are giving oem and universal remotes fits. Unless you have learning remote, you're probably out of luck.

That is a loaded question. You will get answers all over the place. You must think about the following types of things first:
1) Budget
2) Do you like all hard buttons, all touch screen, or a combination.
3) Do you want it to be able to do macros
4) What else is in your system and how many components would you like it to control, or will it just do the TV and TiVO?
5) etc......
Once you know this, or at least think about it, you'll better be able to digest what people recommend.
Some folks, for example, might swear by their Harmony remote and despise a Pronto remote. Others might love their Pronto touch-screen and appear to hate anything else. I love my Pronto, but part of that is driven by I got it for free from the HT store I used to work at part-time.
Anyways, check out www.remotecentral.com. They will pretty much be able to give you information on any type of remote out there.
