I bought a few lifetime cards when they were available at Best Buy. I was wondering if it is good for two years or good forever if bought in California. There is a law in Califonia that gift certificates cannot have an experation date. Was wondering if anyone knew if this appled to the Tivo Lifetime Gift Card? Maybe the TiVO ops Manager could answer.

I believe the rules of the card do state that California is exempt from the 2 year limit. However that may only apply if it's used by the original purchaser and in California.

I wonder if it's even possible to buy a lifetime subscription (using the card) in California. I assume it must be done online or over the telephone, and not at a B&M store. As such, the transaction might be deemed to occur at whereever the processing office is, which is probably not in California.

It is my understanding that the only requirement is that the TiVo account must be in the name of a California resident and has nothing to do with who bought it or where.
A California native.
