:) -!!! Can the title be any longer?!? !!!- :)

I am wondering if anybody has seen this as well ...

I have my S2DT Tivo setup for this Comcast Motorola Digital Cable box with Microsoft Enhanced software. When the Tivo tries and change the channel it seems to listen for audio after a few seconds of silence. The issue is that if the digital cable box hasn't quit got all the data to start displaying video and playing audio the Tivo box will perform a Channel Up/Down.

Why is my Tivo do this?!? - I remember the day when I told it to goto a channel it would and that's it. Now it is trying to be smarter then my cable box.

SPECS:
S2 DT Tivo with latest software
Motorola Digital Cable box
Comcast Digital Cable w/ HBO Package running Microsoft Enhanced firmware
Using *new* serial cable to change channels
Coax for analog channels

What box and what firmware version? What region are you living in?

Are you SURE the serial port actually works? There are cable boxes w/serial ports which aren't enabled. What if you totally block the IR input on the cable box? Tivo sends out IR out the front even if you don't hook up IR blasters.

hi there!
not sure if this is totally related, but it sure sounds familiar!
check out the BB thread:

i think i called it "tivo not changing channel correctly" or something like that. eitherway if you can search for user posts, it's the only other thread (so far) minus this one i've posted on.

somewhere else on this site...

still no luck solving it.

we need someone who has *actually had* AND *solved* this problem to ring in and tell us what's going on and what to do...

good luck and please let us know!

I am having the same problem. It appears that the channel gets changed correctly, but then the cable box receives a channel up or down command immediately afterwards. It seems to only occur to channels over 100.
I have a Series2 Tivo TCD24008A, SW 7.2.2b-oth-01-2-140
Serial connection to a Motorola DCT2244, build 17.90

To the OP and Vadir1, are you sure the serial ports are actually enabled on your boxes?

A quick Google search for DCT2244 and serial seems to show that it's enabled for some folks and not for others. It seems to vary depending on the cable provider and region.

I have a DCT2244 and it would not work on my Series 2 Toshiba DVD Tivo combo with a serial cable (purchased from Tivo). I tried everything and finally gave up.

I recently purchased a used Series 2 (didn't look at the model #) 40 hour on Ebay for dirt cheap. It works perfect. I put it in the kids room with the same DCT2244 box and serial cable and it works/controls perfectly. This used unit just updated to 7.2.2 but was working on 7.2.1. as well.
