Hello,
I am in the desperate process of getting my TiVo system set up! Why am I so desperate? Well I missed yesterday’s episode of Jeopardy in which my Brother In-Law was one of the contestants.
Anyway, I am in desperate need of getting a copy of this show and I don't know if my TiVo will be setup in time for me to capture this May 30th Episode of Jeopardy.
So, if some kind soul could help me by saving this show please let me know! I know I can repay you in some way to thank you! :)
Please send me a PM if you can help!
:D
Thank you Mucho in advance.

Do you mean 31st of May, since May 30th was yesterday?

Some people think that TiVo can retroactively record shows. I'm not sure if that's what Neal is thinking.

Steve,
Thats what I had thought. I had believed that TiVo could capture a show within a "window of time" after it had been shown and still be recorded. Sorry for my missunderstanding and your correction.
Sincerely,

That statement is true in a sense. TiVo is always recording and placing that recording in a buffer. The buffer is 30 minutes long. Therefore, if you turn on the TV you can "rewind" up to 30 minutes. You can also press the record button, and the 30 minute buffer will be converted to a show that will be on the Now Playing List. There are a couple of cavets to this buffer, namely the buffer clears and starts from zero on every channel change.

Yes - the "window of time" is 30 minutes and then only if the TiVo is already tuned to the channel in question AND the show you want to record is still in progress. TiVo has no special access to programming - it gets whatever comes in over your normal programming source (antenna, cable, satellite). The magic of TiVo is that it makes it so easy to record the shows you want that you don't have to think about it - once you have asked it to do so, though. A TiVo cannot record today something that was on yesterday.
You should ask in the "Now Showing" section of the forum. Someone may have recorded this show for themselves and might be willing to make you a tape of it.

Steve,
Thank for the input again about how TiVo works. I am going to ask in the "Now Showing" section. I did a search for Now Showing and did not find a specific forum. I believe you mean the TiVo Coffee House. Sorry to be such a TiVo newbee. :o
Sincerely,

Sorry, I meant "Now Playing", which is where TV shows are discussed.
