Ok I've had it... setup Tivo to record Indy 500 before the Memorial family trip and came back finding 3 hours of informercial!!!

The problem is that both my channels 3 (KEYT) and 7 (KABC) carry ABC but for reasons I don't understand KEYT replace national broadcast with informercial from time to time. The problem is, such occasions were never recognized by Tivo guide.

Remove channel 3 will solve the problem but I'll also miss local news from this channel. Anyone knows what's going on and how to straighten it out?

Thanks!

Nobody has similar issues? Does it only happen to my area (Adelphia Digital, Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, California)???

Well, if I were you I would make sure that I was scheduling recordings ONLY on KABC. Season Passes are channel dependent, and if both are available in the guide, don't record things on the station that keeps changing the programming.

Don't blame TiVo it sounds like it's your wacky local stations that are screwing things up.

I'm not blaming Tivo- at least not before I know what's going on. I think this local ABC station has been doing so for many years. But I don't know if it follows certain guidelines or rules.

I'll try to record only with #7 KABC. But sometimes the Tivo Suggestion or Wish List recorded this local station automatically. I'm still hoping maybe there's the correct program guide for this channel somewhere, and I just missed it. I did fumble a bit while choosing the right Adelphia service type while setting my Tivo. But so far all other channels are accurate, except this particular one.

"TiVo Suggestions" and "Wish Lists" will record the shows on ANY channel that plays them. Try making a Season Pass for your recordings and choose channel 7 (KABC) only because, as hitbyatrain said, Season Pass shows will only record on the channel that you select it to record on.

For shows like the Indy 500 that only air once, you can search for it by title from the "Pick programs to record" page, then you can select it to record from a specific channel.

Also, you can take the offending channel off of the "channels I receive" but it can still be tuneable through pressing its channel number from the remote. That way, you can still tune into its news when it comes on--but TiVo suggestions and wishlists won't see it.

You got it! Before the guide is "fixed", this is as good a solution as it gets. I can still flip to the local channel manually whenever I want. But maybe I won't miss it at all. Thanks!
