Hi there,

I have a show I would like to save to VCR. We do not usually have a VCR installed in our setup, but I figured I could just put RCA cables from the second set of RCA outputs on the TIVO box to the input RCA on the VCR temporarily to save this one recording.

However, when I do this, I am only getting static on the VHS tape. Any ideas what I have done wrong?

It sounds like you don't have your VCR set to its input channel. Depending on the model of VCR, there could be an input button, or it could be channel 00, or something else.

Most VCR's have multiple input choices, so you might not have the right one selected. You should see something to the effect of INPUT SELECT either on the VCR or the remote for it. If you can see the VCR output on the TV at the same time that the TIVO is connected, I would click the TIVO button on your TIVO remote to make sure that an easily identifiable TIVO screen is showing and then try cycling thorugh the INPUT SELECT on your VCR to see if your TIVO screen appears.

My only other thought is to recheck the wiring - make sure it's Video to Video, audio to audio, and that it really is OUTPUT to INPUT.
