Setting up volume

How do I set up my tivo remote to control the volume for my tv? I got a message from tv saying I can set it up I got to the screen Remote Control Setup and went to Park 1: Tv power, volume, and mute and I seleted my tv brand but then it says:

1. Hold down the TV POWER and Tivo buttons together for 5 sec.

What tivo buttons am I suppose to press? I tried everything can someone walk me through it?

I don't know why they made it so difficult, but the TiVo button is the button that is labeled "TiVo"

You hold this button and the TV power button (labeled "TV power") until the red light at the front end of the remote stays lit. Then enter one of the listed codes. If that code doesn't work, hold down both buttons again and enter a different code. I hope you know what to do if the second code doesn't work.
