I didn't think you could get these anymore but for all you rewards collectors this may be worth thinking about:
TIVO 80 Hour DVR With Lifetime TiVo Service (http://www.skymall.com/marriottrewards/productDetail.do?pid=69776871)
I saw it in this seasons rewards brochure.
Note: if the link doesn't work go to http://www.marriottrewards.com/merchandise and search for TiVo.

"Tivo 80 Dual Tuner DVR w/3yr Subscription"
Title says that but description says:
TIVO 80 HOUR DVR WITH LIFETIME TIVO SERVICE
Get all the entertainment you care about with the Tivo box and easy-to-use Tivo service. You can record, play, pause, rewind and slo-mo live TV. Never miss an episode again. You can store your favorite shows and then watch them back at your convenience. The R54080-GSLT00 has a built-in 80 hour hard drive recorder so you have hours of hours of your favorite movies at a touch of a button. There is no monthly charges since this package includes lifetime service. Last chance to take advantage of lifetime service offer from Tivo. Tivo 80 Dual Tuner DVR w/3yr Subscription
My guess is they used to do lifetime on the units when tivo offered it and now they do three years yet didnt update the webpage correctly.

The dual tuner is listed as 3yr but the single tuner 40hr, 80hr and humax are all listed as lifetime.

If you're looking for one, second hand is (just about) the only real way to go.
I have two series 2 Tivo's (1 40hr & 1 80hr) both with the lifetime
service activated on them. Neither have ever been messed with, hacked
or modified. Both work great, and the only reason I'm selling them is
because I upgraded units and need to sell these to offset the costs.
I can provide proof of recent connectivity and service downloads
showing the lifetime service.
If interested get in touch!
Thanks,
Jason

I'd like to change the title to this thread because I have clearly confused people. I don't need a TiVo with lifetime becuase I can get one here. I thought I'd post the link in case anyone else who collected rewards would like to get one as well.
The point was I didn't think you could still get a new TiVo with lifetime but there are clearly ways.

My bad, sorry. Cool of you to point out to folks though.

I understand that if the Lifetime sub. was less than 30 days old, it can be transferred to another unit. Is the Lifetime sub. on either of your units less than 30 days old? If so, PM me immediately.

This is correct, but also lifetime on units (munis Humax DVD) ended 4/15. Today is 5/28, clearly 30 days past the limit.

Yes, I knew that. I was hoping to pick up a unit with a newly-activated Lifetime sub. Some folks snagged BB Lifetime cards when Tivo announced the 4/15 end-date for getting Lifetime thru Tivo.

GWB and I touched base privately so he is taken care of. Howerver for others who might be interested or want more info:
Both units are older than 30 days, and they don't qualify for the "grandfather" transfer either. Both units are 2 years old. One unit had the lifetime sub purchased in April 2004, the other was originally purchased on a series 1 in October of 2000, but I was allowed by Tivo to move that Lifetime sub in 2004 because the original unit failed under extended warranty. Unfortunately, I did not purchase extended warranties on either of these Series 2 units.
So, while these units work great and will make someone a very happy Tivotee, they should be purchased as units to be used, not for a transferable lifetime sub.
However, if anyone has figgured out some way to transfer the lifetime, and want to buy them for that, I have no objection whatsoever. I just do not want to, in any way whatsoever, mislead anyone or be knowingly complicit in anything unethical.
Just looking to recoup some of the expense of recent upgrades.

i ordered the 80 hour tivo from Marriott today. When I asked about the 3 yr plan they pointed out that it was less points than the lifetime and that it was for people who didnt want a lifetime subscription.

They sell points for $10/1000 so a 148,000 point Lifetime 80Hour TiVo would equate to $1,480!
