So I upgraded to two drives awhile back...I think one is going so I am going to replace them...

Reading Hinsdale's How-To it appears that going from a two drive system (user added second drive) to a one drive system, keeping the recordings, is not possible.

What is the issue, what partitions is Hinsdale talking about that I would run out of? I don't have alot of knowledge in the Linux area, just enough to be dangerous...

I want to get to a single drive, with Zipper...without losing my recordings...

Unless I can go that route with two new drives...

Thoughts?

Thanks

Well, to know enough to be dangerous, I suggest you go to the Underground Forum section rather than this section. The experts lurk there and the discussions do get quite technical. But the answer is still basically, "you can't" unless you want to get into some very deep partition creation and partition copying, and even then ....

You may get help on the Upgrade forum as well. I seem to remember a way to copy the programs from two drives to one as long as the new drive is larger than the two combined. I did it on one of my DSR6000 units many years ago. The DSR6000 came with two drives equalling 45gig. I put in one drive with 60gig and copied over the programs and settings.
