First off I searched and was surprised and worried to find no one else with my problem.

So maybe I am explaining it wrong. In the past when I download TIVO files I was able to watch them. Somewhere along the way it stopped working. Now I get audio but no VIDEO.

This might have started when I upgraded to Media Player 10, so I just tried upgrading to Media Player 11, but same results.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition (sucks edition).

With an woefully underpowered onboard media card.

Thank you in advance, and if this has been asked an answered I do apologize and just send me the link or the correct search parameters so I don't feel like too big of a duffus.

Just a quick update:

New information: while using GoToMyPC I was able to see video, but I still can't se video on my own desktop!

sounds more like a codec problem that developed on an upgrade....
try downloading and installing k-lite codecs
http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

You need the proper codecs.

Its not the codex because it would display on a network drive... Turned out to be a corrupt video drive.

I was able to reinstall the drivers and all is fixed.

I am sorry I stand corrected, what ever the problem it keeps coming back. installed new video driver and it worked once.

HEre is what I can tell you

1) For some reason my windows has 3 monitors (all the same listed in my Hardware profile).

2) I have two exactly the same video cards also listed (only have one on-board that came with dell.

When I delete one of the two, it comes back HARDWARE wizard "finds it again"

BASTARD.

Computer is 1 month past warrenty. Of course.

DVD's have no problem being viewed
WMA files have no problem
DIVX also no problem

only .TIVO files.

I'd try the codec route just once....
as for your monitor issue...you should be able to click on something that indicates which monitor you are on.
I assume your card has a TV out or HDMi or some other interface.
