Hello everyone!

I'm pretty confident after reading this forum for the last 3 days that there are people on here that can help me.....

Here is the situation:

After 4 years of using my Sony T60, I'm watching TV the other day and end up with the "Cannot Load Kernel" error.

I power down the unit, and later that night plug it in again, and it works for a while, then I get the error again.

After searching this forum, I figure the drive is shot, and I wanted to upgrade anyway. I buy 2 brand new 120GB drives, and want to install them.

I don't care about saving my recordings.

I went to Hinsdale and read the tutorial (option 3-I originally wanted to save whatever recordings I had). I got a ton of errors, and the IN/OUT numbers didn't match at the end of the cycle (about 4 hours)

I tried the new 120GB drive and still get the "Cannot Boot Kernel" error, so I figure my original drive is shot, and doesn't have any good data to transfer over to the new drive.

I don't have a backup of a good kernel and such from an original drive.

Can anybody help steer me in the right direction with this? All I'm looking to do is get the TIVO software onto the new drive and go from the original 40GB drive to the dual 120GB drives.

Suggestions, help, advice, etc?

Thanks in advance.

The simplest method is probably InstantCake -- does ptvupgrade.com sell InstantCake for S1 units? I dunno but that's where I'd start.

Thanks-I just purchased and I'm waiting for my Download link.

I'll try it tonight, and post the results.

Thanks for the fast reply!
