Just got a R10 with HMO enabled.

Is it possible to "dial out" using the ethernet connection?

No. For the initial Guided Setup you must have an analog phone connection. If you don't have one, you can perform that initial Guided Setup at a friend/neighbor's house ... you don't need a satellite connection for that. Once you've finished Guided Setup, you can connect the R10 at your house and not worry about a phone connection. You just won't be able to order PPV movies with your remote control (order them via DirecTV's web site instead).

A: It doesn't need to, for the TiVo calls.

B: It can't, over network, for the DirecTV PPV call, that can only be made by the internal modem.
