Tonight on American Idol, the Idols sing a song of their choice, a song chosen by the judges and a song chosen by legendary music producer, Clive Davis.
Here is the unconfirmed set list for tonight's American Idol:
Taylor
"You are so Beautiful" by Joe Cocker (Randy's Pick)
"Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen (Clive's Pick)
"Try A Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding (Taylor's Pick)
Elliot
"What You Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell (Paula's Pick)
"Open Arms" by Journey (Clive's Pick)
"The Sun is Going to Shine Again" by Ray Charles (Elliot's Pick)
Katherine
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland (Simon's Pick)
"I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly (Clive's Pick)
"Man I Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain (Katherin's Pick)
I think it is going to be a very good night. I have a sneaking suspicion that Elliot is really going to come through. Taylor should hit at least one or two home runs. Based on last week's poor performances, I think this could be the end of the road for Katherine unless she nails each and every song.

I also heard a rumor that Clive's pick for Taylor was "Walkin In Memphis" by Marc Cohn.

Looks like nobody who is picking songs wants Katharine to win.
Somewhere over the rainbow? I think Simon should stop making all those jokes about Seacrest now. ;) And that Shania Twain song is one of my least favorite songs of all time. Does anyone actually like that song?
Chris mentioned in an interview that his pick song was going to be Dream On by Aerosmith. That probably would have been very good.

I think Taylor got the best set up for doing well with these songs...
But I thought Chris had the inside track with Elvis last week, so what do I know....
Will be interesting to see if Elliot can do Open Arms.. I suspect he will either falter or do amazingly well.

Oh Katharine, while it seems that the judges are holding a gun to her head she isn't doing herself any favors either. Making such a desperate play for the country crossover vote isn't going to work at this late stage.
Shania Twain = Kiss of death on Idol. Good bye Katharine. Please let the twins come out and play tonight.

I think Taylor definitely has the best choices here. While I think Elliott will probably do well, I've only heard the Journey song he is performing. I'm wondering if his choosing lesser known songs will hurt him?

Well, now the real "winner" has been eliminated, I think it's Taylor's title to lose.
Kat should be outta here and I have never seen the poison troll's appeal. I reallt don't feel like watching the rest of this season as I absolutely don't care any more.....but I guess I will. I'm a glutton for punishment!
Didn't one of the judges pick "Man I Feel Like a Woman" for a contestant last year? I remember the mayor reading out that title.

Remember this set list is unconfirmed! I also think "Memphis" would have been a great pic for Taylor. Maybe he's saving it for the finals...

Katherine has the potential to do very well with those song selections. The problem is that she lacks maturity, and may not be able to give the songs the proper feeling. Just belting these songs out without the proper nuances and feeling would be a disaster.

Hopefully the love affair with Taylor will end soon. I just don't see him selling many CD's, and if I saw him performing, it's like it would be boring after about an hour.

If Taylor does indeed do Dancing in the Dark, it might be kind of funny if he pulls Paula up on stage to dance with him at the end of the song...
..or maybe even Courtney Cox, iirc she was at one of the tapings this year..or was it last year?

Does that mean that Clive Davis wants to pee on Katherine's chest? :)

Me too. :D Definitely something I'd save and watch again and again for a long time. Taylor said there was a song he wanted to get cleared earlier in the season but ran into troubles with clearance, so maybe this is it, assuming the speculation is accurate.
Will Taylor go all spastic like Joe Cocker ? (yes)
And Katherine ? Horrible, horrible song choice. She got screwed by the other two as well. How is she going to compare to Judy Freaking Garland ?? I would think it'd be very difficult to rearrange that song in order to "make it yours".

"Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen (Clive's Pick)
"Try A Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding (Taylor's Pick)
I can visualize him nailing 1 and 3, but I think he'll butcher Dancing in the Dark if that is indeed one of his songs.
