I am so sick to death of cop shows, lawyer shows, hospital shows and families. Lately we've had some new ideas.

Lost. But that brought on a bunch of mystery/scary shows. So that is on its way to becoming trite.

I want to hear your ideas for genuinely knew ideas. In other words, something that has (as far as you know) never been on TV before or only has in very limited format.

My idea?

Life inside a software company. It would be like MS or Apple before it got big. They just got their VC money and have big plans to do it the right way without selling out.

Main Characters: Quirky hippy type who wants to give it all away. The business egghead who sees the software as a highway to billions. A smart chick who is the real brains in the bunch and also the love interest of both of the other two dudes. The bad guys would be the investors and the competition.

Best I could come up with. What's your idea?

After seeing that "Friday Night Lights" is getting made into a TV series, I think we need to the other side of that coin.

A gay intellectual teenager in a small sports-driven town strives to excel in academic contests while his teachers fight to keep the academic decathlon team funded. Features a variety of smart kids from all walks of life, quirky teachers with hearts of gold, a great TV mom who only wants the best for boy but is struggling with a debilitating physical illness. The younger sister is cute, but a loser in school as well as socially. The step-dad is a little out of his element with the gay genius, but is doing his best to help the kid get enough of a scholarship to send him to school.

Basically, the TV show formula suggests you start the show with the star as a freshman or sophomore so that you have 3-4 of high school angst with drama to get the star to valedictorian, a scholarship and into a good 4 year university. It's a classic teen drama with a realistic fish out of water story. Brains vs. Brawn

Live death row executions, we were promised that television would go this far in the future :) (think Running Man) and it hasn't yet. There is probably enough lifers out there to have a good 2 season run at least. If an innocent got the axe, the relatives would get to exact punishment on the guilty party(ies) in a manner they choose. Tivo set to kill...

At least offer it for Pay Per View. Surely DTV or the Cable Co's can spare a channel for a couple of hours.

Think of the coverage: The last rites, the last dinner (players at home can bet on what it will be); last words; time until deat; and maybe some post execution interviews with the family of the deceased, as well as the family of the victim.

Think of the marketing tie-ins: collectable cards of executioners; home version board game, etc.

;)

I think we are due for another time travel series - in the sprit of Quantum Leap and Voyagers - only with less cheese of Quantum Leap and more hip factor of Voyagers.

I prefer the ones that take place in modern times and they go forward or backward. Not the ones where they are already in the future. Zzzzz

Yes, you get it!
another one:
Truth or Death!
tell the truth or die by audience chosen method, no scratch that, internet audience vote only. Seacrest will host "chosen by you America".

yet another:
Worlds Wildest Whatever, the main premise is to show all that crap they show now with no black box or fuzzy areas.Hosted by Bob Saget.

I would love to see a show about a small game development studio and the lives of people who run it. What About Brian actually features 2 game developers as lead characters, but their trade only turned up briefly (and with a somewhat unrealistic project).

As someone working in the industry myself, I know there's plenty of gaming hot topics that could be woven into the show and the target audience would be an advertisers dream. Think about it: People are saying video games are turning young people off of the TV. Here's how to get them back.

The show could be called 'The Game of Life'.

I like that twist. My show idea with the game developers instead of a would be MS. But still as they are starting out.
