DSR 708 stuck on clearing & deleting

Had power interruption. Unit still stuck on erasing and deleting after more than 24 hours. Can I reformat the drive in a PC and reinstall? Do I need to replace it?? Any suggested sources for drives if that is the last resort? Any info to guide through the process?
