:( Hello all. I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to connect my Panny DVD burner (DMR-ES 30VS) to my newly installed Direct TV HR10-250. My other equipment is as follows: Denon 4306, Panny TH-50PHD8UK, Denon 2910, Onkyo DV-CP702. I also have an 8th gen HDMI card which I am runnung everything but ther ONkyo (component) through. I want to be able to record my standard television (not concerned with recording HD content). 1) Is this possible? 2) What connections would enable me to do this? 3) am I going to need another card for my TH-50PHD8UK?
All help is greatly appreciated

You should be able to connect the composite output (red, white, and yellow) of the TIVO to the inputs on the DVD Recorder. Just make sure that when you are ready to burn something that the TIVO is set to 480i.

I'm not familiar with all that equipment but let me tell you how I have my Hdtivos (let's call them HD1 and HD2) set up to my hitachi tv and my panny E80. Maybe it will give you a few ideas - hope i got this right as it's spaghetti back there and I'm going from memory here at work). This enables me to watch one tivo while burning from the 2nd tivo to my E80 or vice versa. Great time saver.
HD1 hdmi to hitachi
HD1 S video to E80 input 1 and audio to radio shack distribution amp amp (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103065&cp=&origkw=amplifier&kw=amplifier&parentPage=search) then one audio output to E80 and one to my receiver.
HD2 component to hitachi
HD2 S video to e80 input 2 and audio to another amp then audio to E80 and another to my receiver
Having 2 hi def inputs on this new tv is great ..heck my old tv only had 1 s video so i had to use 4 different switcher amps to be able to record every source and also view it with my burner.

it will not work when set to 480P, it will only output analog on the 480i setting.

1080i?
Only 480i means only 480i.

All recordings in the HD TiVo are made at the native resolution of the program. Changing resolution on the HD TiVo only changes the output resolution; the recorded program is still at native resolution. For DVD recording, it must be set at 480i. Nothing else works because the DVD recorder can only accept 480i input.
