I have 2 Tivo Series 2 units (1 Tivo and 1 Humax). The Tivo Series 2 is running Software Version: 7.2.2b-oth-01-2-140, and the Humax Tivo Series 2 is running Software Version: 7.2.2b-oth-01-2-590
I am having problems with the Tivo Series 2, tonight I started really noticing a noise coming from my unit, I used a can of compressed air to blow out the dust around the fan and the fan stopped as well as the noise, so I know it is the fan causing the noise. I have a feeling that the fan is about to go, so tomorrow (when the stores open) I am taking out the fan and going to a local computer service center to find a replacement (I know it is 80mm x 80mm x 15mm deep, 2500 rpms, 12 vdc, mini: 2 pin)
Is there any recomendations on fans I should use?? One that I can get from a computer repair store??
The internal temp is 41C (normal)
Also, the original HD in the unit died somewhere around Oct to Dec of 2005, I replaced it with a Maxtor 250 gb (I think it was a 250 gb, I do know it is at least a 200 gb or more) HD, loaded it with the image, put it back into the unit, did a "Clear & Delete Everything" and let it upgrade, and it says that I only have up to 155 hrs, is this correct with such a large HD or is part of the HD locked??
I am also looking into making a back-up so I will have the image for future use. Also is there anything I can do to use the other portion of the HD that the Tivo seems to not be using?? I have Tivo-2-Go on my desktop and notebook, so I can dump the recordings from the Tivo to my computer (as I have well over 200 gb free on my computers HD) and reload the image or a newer image.
In need of a Tivo Series 2 Model: TCD24008A image for a 250 gb HD and instructions and other programs needed to load the image onto the Tivo's HD (i.e. MFStools) and to "un-lock" the unused portion of the HD.
