I have had this Humax T800 new since I bought it back in spring 2005. Never had a problem with it until a day ago. I was going to use my Tivo when all I could see on the screen is the "Welcome... Powering Up" screen. I have tried a few things I saw on other threads like unplugging everything and reattached all the plugs and see if it did anything. No such luck. I read other threads that mention the power supply may be the cause but if thats the case then how am I able to view the Welcome screen? I need help please... ok... I dont need help mentally but instead with my Tivo.

Good chance that reimaging the drive would fix the problem, but if you are not up to that call Humax and they will send you a new replacement unit free regardless of your current warranty status.

I would like to keep the Tivo I have now cause of the fact that I have several shows on there that I watch over and over. So this reimaging thing...what exactly do I do with that? Im not an expert when it comes to tech stuff but I can still manage to get around. Thanks

Better do a lot of reading in the stickies at the top of the upgrade forum. You may or may not be able to save your recordings - depends on condition of your hard drive.

Thank you for everything....I did take a look at that. I will have to ponder my options. Of course in anything I do I know I will more then likely lose all the programs. I dont know which I should do, the reimaging (which Im not sure I feel comfortable doing) or I can go to weaknees.com and get a new drive.

Again Thank You

Re-imaging will likely lose most if not all of your programs. Your best bet is to get a replacment. Call humax, 1-866-486-2987.

Thanks, I did call Humax today and I sent out the T800 today as well. I was quite pleased by the service I received from the tech support. I didn't have to wait long and both techs I spoke with were kind and helpful.

Glad to hear it. You talked to two different Techs? did you call more than once?

Yes I called twice cause I wasn't sure if I would do the swap or the hold on my cc.
Since most of my season finales were done for this year and I watched them all. I have the whole summer for repeats. So I opt to just send it out.

Although I will miss the fact that some programs I had on there will be gone. My life wont end there. Ill survive.

One show I will miss is "The Loop" I have only seen 3 episodes of it and each one was funnier then the other. I doubt it will come back cause it was a mid-season replacement and no new airings are scheduled.
