Recordings starting a little late

Hi,

I have a Phillips DSR6000 DirecTivo Series 1 running 3.5-01-1-001.

I have been experiencing lately some of my recordings have started within the first minute of the program time, not right at the program time. It is very intermittent, I can't pin down when it will happen. When I hit "Play" and I can see the green progress bar at the bottom there is a obvious gap at the beginning of the playing time so the recording "knows" it is missing some of the beginning of the show.

Has anybody else seen this?

I classic example that I've seen is: I Tivo "The Tonight Show" and I am watching the news on the same station, I realize that the recording hasn't started yet so I click "Guide" and see that the time on the Tivo is already 11:35. Then a few seconds later the Tivo starts recording the show and I have lost anywhere from 0:30 to 1:00 of the first minute of programming. This most recently happened Monday night with "King of Queens". It is very annoying especially with shows that start with new content right at the start time.

This has been discussed here many times in the past. I haven't seen it mentioned lately, and to my knowledge, no one has come up with a specific reason for it happening. You may want to search through some old threads.

This comes and goes with me. It's sometimes 1-3 minutes late. I don't see any pattern and it is very intermittent.

This is usually related to the downlink time of one of the transponders being off. The DirecTiVo sets it time to the average of the transponders downlink times it is tuned too about every 5 minutes.

I believe Leno actually starts at 11:34:30, but the listings show 11:35 (not 11:34) -- that may account for this particular problem. Best to pad the beginning of your "Tonight Show" season pass by one minute.
