View Full Version : With USB ports disabled, should an HD10-250 be able to supply power to the adapter?

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem...earlier today I was watching a recorded program and suddenly the tivo would not respond at all to the remote...I rebooted by unplugging and once I did that, my power light on my usb adapter does not come on...I know the usb ports are "disabled" in an unhacked unit but should it at least have power? Neither port works...before I pull the drive and re-zipper I wanted to make sure that re-zippering may fix the problem...

It should have power, but the power LED on the adapter may only light when it is initialized by the host.

My experience has been that if the hardware drivers don't load you won't get a light. What kind of USB adapter is it?

It's a Netgear FA-120...it worked fine until I had to reboot by unplugging/plugging in...so it sounds like I should redo the "zipper"...correct?

I would think so, yes -- I've never used it myself but it sure sounds like your USB drivers are not loading anymore.

On an HR10-250, the Zipper loads the drivers with insmod statements in the author file. If you have a serial cable, you might check to see if the author file got hosed first.

No serial cable :(...I guess I could make one (I may need one at some point anyway)...otherwise I guess I could try re-zippering, right?
