I have a Direct TV/Tivo I set a Season pass for the new Glenn Beck show. I told it to only record first run.

It is recording all three times the show is run every day.

What can't I change to make it automatically record the 7PM show every day and only that one?

Thanks,

Kirk

Some shows don't come up as re-runs. Try a repeating manual recording.

You could setup a manual recording for the 7 PM show, but then if that time moves one week for whatever reason then tough luck.

Also why do you want it to only record the 7 PM show if it plays three times a day? Better to set it as a season pass and let TiVo figure out when it is best to record the show. I record things off Vh1 and MTV all the time and since they replay everything at least 20 times those shows are at the very bottom of the priority list because I know TiVo will be able to catch them later if there is a conflict.

I don't care if it records the 7PM, 9PM, or 12AM show, but I don't want it to record all three. It is recording all three now.

Maybe the repeated manual recording would be the best. I have never done that before.

If the show's listing in the Guide does not have in its description information that enables TiVo to differentiate between each show (episode), then it will assume each one is new and different. I have a Season Pass for the Daily Show and Colbert Report on Comedy Central which are repeated about 4 times per day. If the guide does not list the show's guest, Tivo will record it more than once. If the guest is listed it only records once.

I look at my To Do List every morning so I can clean out stuff like this before it records. If you do it every day, it only takes what, 30 seconds max to look over that day's recordings.

It would be great if the Guide Data were good enough so stuff would work the way we want, but there are going to be times where the data is incomplete. So it pays to do a little maintenance.

Too bad that most people don't get that doing a little maintaining can be necessary to get Tivo to do what we want it to do, they just expect Tivo to be a miracle machine. Maybe if Tivo used the "Ronco (http://www.ronco.com/)" name on there boxes, people would have much lower expectations for their Tivo.
