MRV is based on if your TiVos are networked together and if transfers are allowed, which is toggled on the web. If you want them to show up in your account call up TiVO and get a CSR to trasfer both TiVos into your name (and then of course it would go into your account). All you will need to do is give them the TSN which can be found on the System Information Screen or the back of the TiVo box by the barcode there.

Also what is surewest? I am sure it is a regional thing, but what type of promo are they doing to give away lifetime?

See http://personal.surewest.com/digital_tv/tivo/ for details on this particular offer. It seems you should be able to get this to work - contact SureWest first to see if they understand the problem. The web page I referenced says that TiVoToGo is supported so that means you must be able to have a TiVo account.

Two things

1) This is a Refurbed Humax, lifetime is still available on this unit so not as special as I thought, but not a bad price.

2) That page says:

Some networking features normally associated with TiVo service are not included in this offer, including but not limited to: on-line scheduling, multi-room viewing, manage-my-account capability, delivery of online content and services requiring cable operator interaction.

I would go the route of contacting TiVo CSR and they should be able to put those boxes under your name. I am not sure Surewest will do that for you due to these terms on that page, but TiVo should have no problem doing so.

Lifetime is not available on THAT humax box, only the DVD recorders, AFAIK.

Oh, I missed the bit about features that require an account. But I thought TiVoToGo did too? (Have no personal experience being a DTiVo user.)

Whoops, my bad, took a look at it too quickly. I do stand corrected thanks classicsat.

As long as you have the MAK then you can do TTG. The MAK you can get from the TiVo screen or from your account area on Tivo.com. Therefore TTG can still work if you pull it up on the TiVo screen.

Interesting how MRV has to be in your account but TTG (which then you can do almost whatever you want with that file including converting to MPG, burning to DVD, etc.) you are free to do what you want as long as you can get the MAK. I could technically give my neighbor the MAK (and of course access to my netowrk) and he could then download all my shows, but if I give their Tivo access to my network they can not MRV shows. I guess the MAK and Tivos in your account settings are the security features they have implemented. ::End Rant::
