I'm looking to add a new receiver/dvr to a new room. I currentyly have a dual lnb on my dish and one tivo dvr with 40gb capacity. This time I need a much bigger dvr. I would also like to stick with just one satellite instead of having to set up another one. Is that possible? I'm kind of assuming I'm going to have to replace my current dish, but would like to get one with a quad lnb. Don't even know if that exists. I also need a new *tivo* dvr with 80gb or over capacity. I stress *tivo* because my parents have recently gotten new dvr's and directv sent them some different kind and they ended up returning them because they sucked so bad. I know how to operate my tivo and don't want to have to learn anything else. So, given all that, does anyone know of any deals current or coming up that would help me accomplish my goal?

You can get a multiswitch (3 x 4 or 3 x 8, etc.) and keep your existing dish antennae. You can get receivers off Ebay or other distributors. Options would be a SD-DVR80, SD-DVR120, or a R10. Or, you can go to the underground forum on larger drive upgrades to any Series 2 DTV receiver with ease (R10 with some work). DTV is not selling any 'new' SD Tivo units. Hope this helps.

DTV is not selling any 'new' SD Tivo units.Weaknees.com, a long-time TiVo Community Forum Sponsor is selling brand new R10s, in both stock and upgraded configurations. You might be able to find other retailers, including some local retailers that still have stock available.

New DirecTV TiVo R10 at WeaKnees.com (http://www.weaknees.com/directv-tivo.php)

There is no "quad LNB" dish. There is a triple LNB model that will allow you to receive most programming or the new 5 LNB dish that is for everything plus the new HD MPEG-4 locals (if available). If you are not likely to need the latter for a while, then I would suggest going for the triple as the other is still big and bulky and requires a lot of installing. I think the size will be reduced as technology allows and it may be wise to wait a while.

He made no mention of using HD, so no need for triple sat. Just keep your basic dish and throw in some multi switches. You can use a few 3x4's either jumping off one another or power pass them, also a 4x8 if you have power somewhere close to the switch unless you want to run cable. You have alot of choices. If your jumping into HD or have it then you would probably want to go with the Ka/Ku dish.

No not all do. The ones I use on a regualr basis do, thats what my company supplies and Dtv wants installed.

Awesome. Thanks for all your replies. I'm glad I don't have to overhaul my dish. I just purchased a Samsung SIRS4120R with 120G on ebay. Anyone know anything about this model I might need to know? I don't know if it comes with an access card. If it doesn't, how do I go about getting one. They sell them on ebay buy I don't know if there's some specific one I need, or what. I'm also planning to purchase a 4 way dual lnb multiswitch. Is this correct?
