View Full Version : Guide data not the same on both HDtivos?

Weird one. Last night, my wife missed recording Next top model because we had a conflict. And she thought the 2nd HD tivo was conflicted too. Well here we had an open slot after all and rather than make her miss the 45 min she already did, I looked for next week's repeat.

Sure enough, tuesday night it repeated. But I couldnt keep it on tivo 1 and had to move it to tivo 2 because of a conflict then. So I went to search by name because it's easier then viewed all upcoming episodes. It wasn't there for Tuesday night! B So I manually moved the guide to Tuesday and it WAS there. So I had to set it that way.

Now here's the more bizarre part: Went back to tivo 1 to record the finale next wednesday and also searched future episodes and it wasn't there! However if you went to the guide and scrolled to wednesday, it WAS there!

so basically each tivo had different data when you did a search for future episodes even though it's the same show and channel. Why would this be? And now I'm wondering when I do a search for other things, maybe i'm really not getting all the results I could be.

And what are the odds that 2 different Hdtivos would have the same 'excluded' show on different days? One ep not showing it tuesday night and the other not wednesday on the opposite tivos! I didn't try any other shows to see if this was happening, that would be a real PITA to try to narrow down.

PS I do realize techincally the guide data was correct...but the 'view upcoming eps' was the problem. But if someone has the time, I'd appreciate you checking 2 different units to see if you have the problem. I thought i'd seen everything until this.

ok thanks...I was just shocked...i had both tivos 'viewing all upcoming eps' and just changed inputs on the TV and the screens were different for each tivo...couldn't believe it. I thought view upcoming eps gets their data from the guide inself but truly have no idea what goes on in this box..mostly

and at the time couldn't reboot to even test if that worked, not that i think both machines could have bad indexes at exactly the same time? or could it..hmm

boxes are stacked :)

i checked and both index on a regular basis every day.

Now yesterday i went to try to get american hot rod, it's not on a SP...i have a wishlist for impala...on auto record...there should be 3 more eps of it....well i went to the wishlist and it only showed the 9pm recordings of AHR....and when i tried to record it it showed a conflict...well here when i went to view upcoming recordings, it did show the 9pm AND 1 am recordings. And it was recording the 1am as it should. So in this case, things worked all ok except that the impala wishlist didn't show the 9pm and 1am shows

it 'should' show all views of impala right? even if it's the same show 4 hours apart?

I have seen similar behavior, but usually if there was a late change to the schedule. IOW, one box would have the late change and one would not. Usually they sync up in a day or so. If not, a restart might be in order.

As far as info being different in the upcoming history and To Do List from what is in the guide, that is quite often different. There seems to be a lag between what the Tivo will or will not intend to record that sometimes does not reflect the EPG info, but I guess that makes sense, as it takes time to index all of the information.

I checked and mine seemd the same as far as I could tell. I have also seen differences between my HR10-250 and the SD DVR40 I have so it probably does have to do with changes in teh programming data and when each box gets sat info.

This happened again and both boxes have been rebooted within the past week (trying to prevent the dreaded channel not available error so will reboot weekly).

My wife wanted Saved recorded and we saw our 1 HDtivo had a conflict and rather than resolve it, we just moved to HD2. Well i did a search by title and Saved on Tnt didn't come up but the movie on hbo did come up (both units). The show was in the guide.

I can't call this an isolated incident anymore :( Of course i'll never know the programs for which im not interested in, that do this either.
