I burned a DVD last night - seconds after the red light went off - a sign the DVD burning finished, the live TV started skipping. I tried to eject or view the DVD - but it was stuck at the timer image and would not play or eject. Other viewing was skipping.

I restarted the unit. It would stop in the just a few more minutes - it stayed like that all night.

This unit has a 250GB upgraded drive - so I thought the drive went bad. I swaped the drive with the original drive and the unit rebooted after a very long time - it allowed me to eject the DVD and I tried the 250 GB drive again. This time it seems to be working perfectly - I have since recorded several DVD's (all stored shows in case the drive is indeed bad). It has recorded fine today. No sign of trouble. The ejected DVD cannot be read on another unit - so it seems at restart it was interfering with the starting up. Any one experienced this?

I've seen it before. Your burn goes bad (for whatever reason) and the disc won't eject. You reboot and the corrupt disc prevents the TiVo from rebooting. It only happened to me once and a call Pioneer was useless because they told me to RETURN THE UNIT!

You DO know about the eject hole hidden under the bezel on the front face ? It's pretty hard to find the first time, but a straightened out HEAVY DUTY paper clip pushed into the hole will cause the disc to eject and you should be good to go. Don't put the corrupt disc back in or you may have to do it all over again.
