My HDtivo last night locked up (looked like a 'cloud cover' scramble.. but wasnt) and again it locked up during Medium on NBC. So i pulled the cord and restarted.
...and now the picture is BETTER?! It was previously at 1080 and is now at the same 1080 setting so that isnt it.
What did I do?
..not that im complaining!

TiVo's are computers and need a reboot every now and then.

I take it back. It just crashed again. Screen goes to "squares" and the controller does nothing. Hitting the TIVO button does nothing for about 2 minutes and then goes into the menu.
Looks like my less than a year old TIVO is dying. This will be my THIRD.

Hey Scat are you sure by chance you didn't do an up arrow and changed the res to 480. It is kind of easy to change.

My Ultimate TV (Microsoft Product) has been running uninterupted (except a power failure, and a move) for over 5 years without a crash or deliberate restart for the purposes of fixing something.
