I bought and downloaded PTVnet and Instant Cake for my HDVR2. I installed them yesterday on my new 400GB hard drive and followed the weeknes instructions etc. I prompted for all of the items to be installed but I don't think they were. I have the large drive support as it shows over 300 hours of record time, but I'm already getting the phone nag and my Linksys wireless USB111 won't grab a DHCP address etc. It just appears that I don't have the hacks?? Any ideas?

All you've done at this point is upgrade your harddrive. Check out the Zipper (http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html) site and the support thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=265929) on this site.

All you've done at this point is upgrade your harddrive. Check out the Zipper site and the support thread on this site.

The Zipper is not the only way to enable networking. PTVNet enables networking, adds FTP, telnet, TiVoWebPlus, and Elseed (for Caller ID).

The correct way to install the two is to boot from PTVNet and insert InstantCake when it asks.

Linksys wireless USB111 won't grab a DHCP address etc.

Run the script in this thread (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=258516&highlight=wireless) to add support for wireless "b" adapters.

FYI, PTVupgrade does have a support bulletin board. :D

Thanks for the tip. I did boot to PTVnet then inserted InstantCake when prompted. I'm not sure what happened, but it didn't seem to boot right the first time. Hung on a blue screen with smoke for 12 hours. I didn't know I needed a regular USB network adapter prior to the wireless. Lpoks like one more piece to buy. Any hints on what the least expensive compatible USB network adapter is for HDVR2 and PTVnet?
