Can someone guide me to the guide to get connected to my series 2 standalone via telnet or any other viable method with version 7 something software all the info I found on my own seems outdated.

Try changing your topic to something more meaningful like "need help connecting Tivo standalone via telnet". I think most will look right past a 'noob needs help' title.
