Having the HD package doesn't mean anything when it come to Sports, other than what's on ESPN-, ESPN2-HD, HDNet, UHD, any networks you have in HD, and if DirecTV carries any games your RSN(s) have in HD. The crucial question is, do you have the MLB Extra Innings package?

also- last year Directv carried basically every game that YES did in HD.
This year although YES is doing MANY more in HD and the rest "ENHANCED" (which might be 490P widescreen- not sure what they think enhanced is)- directv has decided to split the time carrying YES or a handful of other teams RSN's.
Net result is they actually are moving BACKWARDS for HD content for anyone that enjoyed watchign the YES network HD last year.

Sad but true.
BTW it is 480p resolution, basically widescreen DVD.

In addition, they are allocating for more HD NBA games in lieu of YES HD.
Glad you've restored my sanity. I distinctly remembered watching Yankee games on YES in HD last summer. Have not seen any available this year, so I called D* and was told that they never had an agreement with YES to broadcast games in HD, and there were no plans to add that service.
So I'm not crazy, and they are lying again!!! Under Murdoch's rule, D* has become a grossly mismanaged company apparently operating in constant crisis mode, with uninformed personnel interacting with customers.
When YES and ESPN both broadcast the big games, my ESPN HD feed is blacked out, so I now have to watch in crappy SD on YES!!!
Comcast is starting to look better and better.

This drives me up a wall. In addition to losing HD Yankee games, the NHL and their infinite wisdom to move to OLN, is stuck on channel 608 in SD. I distinctly remember the NHL spending the entire strike year discussing how "they knew the game really shined in HD". The follow that up by signing with OLN (soon to be named Versus) and moving the weekly package to crappy NBC. If it weren't for the NFL package, I'd be gone. I'd miss my Tivo, but I'm thinking local Cable has a better programming package for me -- the local sports fan.
Not to mention, I don't think the Mets have managed to crack Channel 95 and they broadcast every home game in HD.
While I'm ranting, it also drives me crazy not knowing what will show up on 95, if anything. It's potluck..

yeah i remember they had two channels going sometimes last year, but now it's only on chan 95, and nothing on chan 94. i thought they were suppose to carry all HD games that the extra inning carries. this sucks big timE!!

When that comes I'll pay the fee to break my D* contract. Enough is enough. FIOS or Cablevision: whoever can give me these HD games. ..Just need a Series 3 HD TiVo though. We need the capacitiy more than anything else.
