The installer was supposed to come out today and hook up a new oval dish and run two more lines into my family room, for a total of 4 (I already have a SD tivo in the family room). Unfortunately, he had to reschedule . Anyways my question is can I take one coax off the SD tivo hook it into the HD tivo and activate it myself? Will the installer still get "credit" for installing it if I activiate it myself? Will there by any problems with the HD tivo if I only have 1 coax attached for a week (new install date 1 wk away).
I'm just anxouis to view HD. I'm thinking I can view local OTA HD until the installer comes to connect the new dish.
Thanks!

yes, you can do it. just have your ID and unit serial number and card access numbers handy. one line will work and you will need a phone line connected also for first intial call in.
of course it will only watch record from 1 program till you hook second line into it next week. no problem. if your using ther old round dish you will only have sat a 101. a few of the hd are on sat b and sat c so they will be missing till they install the oval dish.

i would agree however i recently had a service call in which an hr10-250 had only one line connected and i found that the customer was losing some channels, upon talking to directv iss i was informed it can happen with only 1 line connected

Don't forget the Receiver ID!
Make sure you run Guided Setup and set it for Round Dish, one input only.
