I was using MyDVD successfully for months, but in the past few days it shuts down when I try to work with any movie... including TivotoGo transfers. I have the purchased version, 6.1.

The technical support Website for Sonic, which owns MyDVD, appears to be overloaded or shut down... I get a time out when I try to log on to their support area most of the time.

Whenever I try to edit a movie, I get a message saying that MyDVD has encountered a problem and must shut down.

Anyone else with these problems.... There appear to be a lot of folks reporting similar problems elsewhere. I have totally uninstalled, wiped out the registry files, etc., and re-installed ... and the problem persists.

Comments? Suggestions?

I am having the same problems.

I used MyDVD 6 for several months-no problems, now I have lock ups every time before I can burn a DVD>

Is this related to TIVO 2.2 vs 2.0 ???

Any help would be appreciated

I have been experiencing the same thing. I was able to create one DVD and now every time I try to burn it goes through the motions and then gives me a "Roxio MyDVD has encounterd a problem and must close" message. Any luck finding an answer to this?

This thread is a little old, but it might help.

Frank, your link in the above thread seemed to fix my problem initially. I was having the same problem the first poster had. After a successful re-install, I edited an entire NFL game last night & it worked great. However, I've tried twice to burn the DVD & it gets almost to the end of the burn & I get an error message, something about the DVD not being supported.

I'm getting really sick of MyDVD

Barracuda, sorry to hear it didn't work. Try contacting MyDVD support, if they can't help then they might give you a refund.

Also I know that the TiVo folks are aware of problems with MyDVD. The next TiVo Desktop version may address some of the Sonic issues.

Let me know how things work out.

actually, I talked to their tech support before I found your post & their fix didn't work. It wasn't until I found yours that I got it as far as I did. Somehow, I doubt I'll get my money back

I'm just going to wait for something better, if Tivo knows how back MyDVD sux, then maybe they'll be something better...

Tivo 2.1 worked fine for me.

I think the problem is in the link up with MyDVD and TIVO 2.2

I wish I had saved a copy of Tivo 2.1

Does anyone have this program to send???

I have had a lot of problems with MyDVD transcoding Tivo files. It's incredibly slow. And I never could figure out how to edit out commercials. Finally, I gave up on it entirely. Now I use 3 programs to accomplish this task. Although it's a 3-step process, the speed savings make it worthwhile. First, I use DirectShow Dump Utility to strip the Tivo wrapper and give me an mpeg files that I can work with. This program is free and can be found at http://prish.com/etivo/tbr.htm. Second, I use VideoReDo to remove commercials and output the result to a commercial-free mpeg. This program can be found at http://www.VideoReDo.com. Third, I use ConvertXtoDVD to convert the mpeg to DVD format that is burnable by any DVD creation program. This program can be found at http://www.vso-software.fr. Personally, I prefer CloneDVD2 as a burning program. This program can be found at http://www.slysoft.com. I hope this information is useful. Please feel free to re-post this information anywhere else that it might me useful.

Can you take something that has been edited with MyDVD & burn it with another burning program? As posted above, I'm really having trouble with this miserable software. I have an NFL game edited & ready to burn, but MyDVD goes through the entire burn process, then throws out an error message at the end, discarding the whole thing.

TIA

ETA: The game is edited down to like 2 1/2 hours, so disc space isn't an issue

Will MyDVD allow your to "burn" to an image (.iso) rather than a real disc? If you can succesfully do that, you could then burn the .iso file using a lot of different programs (recommend DVDDecrypter).
