What is the benefit or use for wipe logs??

There really isn't any benefit to wiping logfiles...
the original idea behind it is that if var gets too ful, then it gets recreated (deleting anything you may have had stored there), but deleting logs is unlikely to help in that the tivo automatically deletes all logs >1MB if it's running low on space in 6.2 (and similar in other versions).
If you're storing needed content in var, you just have to keep a check on the space available there, or modify the script that's wiping it (/etc/rc.d/StageB_PostKickstart/rc.Sequence_150.CleanupVar.sh in 6.2)

so therefor if you have stuff in var/hack it would get deleted also like example my tt server?? If this is true, what mods do you need to make to the file you stated above? :eek:

Edit the file... line 98 should be: MaxVarPercent=40 that is the max percentage of /var that can be in use before it purges, so if you increase that percent, you can use more of the drive... don't set it TOO high because the tivo does use var for some things (the biggest space requirement is for an upgrade on an SA tivo, afaik)
