I am having a problem with an HR10-250. I had a friend zipper the unit and for some reason the USB ports didn't get activated the 1st time he did it. Last night I brought it to him and he re-zippered the unit and the ports still were not active, he then used his seriel cable to run some other linux commands and got the USB port active. I take the unit home and go to my Now Playing list and all the shows that were recorded prior to last night give me an "ERROR- Error playing a recording" message. The full text of the error is this:

"The recorder was not able to record the program because there was no video signal on the channel. You have have been trying to record a channel that you do not receive."

Neither one of these statements is correct because the shows were recorded just fine and verified before I took it to his house last night. Does anyone know what is causing this? And what can be done to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

If he re-zippered and re-installed the image he wiped out your recordings. :( Ask him.

Actually I was watching him. On the question where it asks if you want to save the recordings, he did say YES.

Could be that the process reset the encryption key in which case the recordings are toast. Just a guess and I hope I'm wrong!
