View Full Version : Standby Spontaneous Audio?

OK, I have had this rarely in years past, but it just happened twice in under an hour. We put the Tivo in Standby, blacking the screen and killing the audio. I left the TV on because I planned to watch again in under an hour. (Tivo is connected by RCA plugs.) At 7 PM, Tivo started recording a suggestion. How do I know? The audio suddenly came on! A bit startling in a quiet room. The screen stayed black. I turned the Tivo on and put it back into standby. Next, 7:30 rolls around, Tivo starts to record something else. You may have guessed--once again the audio came on. No video. I had to turn it on and back to Standby.

I think this is way more common than I've ever encountered. We are running 7.2.2.oth.01-2-540. Sorry if this has been covered. I just wasn't sure how to effectively search for this situation.

Anyone familiar with this? Is this a relatively new "feature"?

So your audio is constantly on so that it is available at any time? Have you had more occurrences since your posting?

To answer your first question, yes, when the audio came on (both times), it was just like the Tivo was "on", except the video output was still off. It happened yesterday at 7 PM ET and 7:30 PM ET, but we started watching Tivo before 8 so I cannot say anything beyond that, at least for yesterday. Having said that, I just switched over to that Tivo's input and found, yet again, the audio is on and the video is off. I just turned it on and back to standby. I'll see if it happens again at 6:30 ET.

If you want me to PM/e-mail you the TSN, I can do that so you can look at the logs, if you wish.

FWIW, 7 PM ET, audio is on AGAIN!

Thanks, TivoJerry for responding.

Please PM me with your 15-digit TSN and I will enable logging. I'll then send you instructions on how to insert a timestamp for the next noticeable occurrence.

FWIW, this happened again. Another issue with 7.3.1?
