I know quite a few of you utilize the Harmony 880 remote with your HD Tivo. My question is this: Is the Harmony 880 remote compatable with xbox360 as well? Or do I need to purchase the Harmony xbox360 remote? I prefer the look of the 880 and the fact that it can control more devices. Thanks!

If the xbox 360 has an ir remote, it is 99% chance that the 880 can learn the commands (if they are not already in the Harmony database, which I bet they are).

I have an 880 that I am using with my Xbox 360, you do not need the 360 harmony remote as well. They did the 360 remote to try and get to another market that might not usually look into Harmony remotes, but the 880 and all the other harmony remotes will do everything that will do without colorful buttons. The 880 works really well with the 360 and makes turning it on and gaming quickly quite easy. I would highly reccomend this remote to you. PM me if you have any questions.

I have nothing tremendously bad to say about this remote. I had a ton of remotes and the fact that I could replace them all with one was fantastic.
Unfortunately, 12 days after buying mine, it started to "reset" itself every time I hit a key or picked it up (it has a really neat feature where it turns on when you pick it up). It even failed during a self-diagnoses. PLL error. :p
After spending $250 for it and it dying on me less than two weeks later, it made me feel disappointed. Do I think it's an isolated case? Sure. Did I want to replace it with another and take my chances? Heck no. :)
I'll try the next generation when I'm feeling brave again.
But like I said: it is a nice little remote when working properly.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not sure I understand you here. Are you saying that after 12 days, your 880 failed and you DIDN'T go back to the store or contact Harmony for a replacement?
You can bet if I'd paid $250 (or even $20) for a remote and it failed in less than two weeks, I'd be screaming at the manufacturer, retailer and anyone else who would listen - which you wouldn't need to do as their customer service is great anyway.
I went on vacation three months ago and my (then) 10 month-old German Shepherd thought my 880 would make a good chew toy. I sent a picture to Logitach with a note explaining that I wasn't after anything but I thought they'd like the pic. They did! And they sent me a new 880 for $75.
If I am correct and you didn't return the remote, then I'm not sure what to say!
This is what my 880 looked like after my vacation....

We used to have a German Shepherd, so I can feel the love and frustration, but as our dog trainer (who also trains police K9's) always said about these situations..."It's also about (dog) owner Management as well." If you (or your dog sitter) leave your $250 remote control out so your 10-month-old puppy can chew it like it's a cool-looking chew toy, then it's not his fault, but yours for leaving out for him to play with. At least you got another remote from Logitech at a great discount. :)

Hey all, I have been hearing good things about the 880, I was just curious if anyone has tried using it on a Panasonic VCR/DVD burner? I am using a All for One 6131 and it is ok but I don't have all my functionality on the VCR/DVD. Was hoping the 880 might be the savior, I figure between that and the macro setting I could get my wife to stop gettig mad at me about not being able to use the dvd player!
Thanks

Or it's just your fault for having a dog. Or at least one that lives indoors.

Yes.
Most of the databased commands work great, some are lacking but it's not hard at all to add them, you can assign them to standard buttons, or a macro button.

I have a Panasonic DVD burner, and the 880 runs all the commands. I had to tweak the default buttons and placements, but other than that everything runs well.

After spending $250 for it.........
Man, you must have purchased it retail.
I just purchased my second one from DELL for $110 shipped and sent off the $50 rebate. My first one I purchased for $169 shipped 8 months ago.

I'm guessing you got on the deal a couple of weeks ago on Dell's website, because I thought the $50 rebate expired about April 25. ???

Has anyone tried that SimpleRemote yet? I read an article about a simpleremote (that was its name) I think it was from philips, looked promising. I don't see it for sale anywhere though so maybe its not out yet.

This should probably be another thread, but here is the homepage for SimpleRemote (http://www.openpeak.com/index.php) .
Looks interesting, but time will tell if it's any good.
I may try to get a review unit and I'll let you guys know if I can.
