I have two series 2 tivos, and I get the multi-service discount on one of them. I would like to replace one of my tivos with the new series 2 DT, but I'm quite confused by the rebate they are offering when you purchase a DT from a retailer.

Does anyone know whether, if I purchase a DT, I can still get the rebate if I am simply replacing an older tivo (and will cancel the service on it)? Can I still get the multi-service discount?

I would upgrade in a minute for $99, but not for $250. Can anyone help me out?

Don't worry. Everything will be fine. You cancel one subscription, then start a new one. It'll still be MSD since it's still a qualifying unit, and it's still a new activation.

Assuming you activated your older Tivo before last September and aren't under a 1 yr commitment, you should be fine. Otherwise you'll have the cancellation fee.

But the rebate isn't affected - new service activation means that you put service on a box that didn't have service on it before - e.g. you put service on a newly-purchased, previously unactivated Series 2 DT box.

New service activation = eligible for rebate.

You cannot simply transfer a current subscription. You have to activate a new subscription with 1-year contract.

I tried to pre-qualify my rebate on my new DT unit and it got rejected with the following message. Anyone else able to pre-qualify? Mine is an add-n and gets the MSD. Here is the link and message.

Yes happened to me, you must activate the DT first before you can use the web to prequalify. (A CSR told me that on the phone when I called) I will be activating Friday, we will see.

Mine is fully actibated, in good standing, on the account, etc. Maybe I just need to give it a day or two.

Call the rebate people, that what I did and I guess I got the wrong answer but it sounded good at the time and not having having an activated unit I had to accept what they said, let me know how you make out as I will have to go into this rebate crap on Friday.

I am also having the exact problem. Would like to hear if anyone finds the answer. I purchased mine thursday set it up and got a very large download on friday. I also set it up in my account. I am guessing that the DT is so new its TSN may not be in the system yet.
