So heres the deal,
I've had a series one for a while and am now retiring it as I will no longer have a land line. I also bought a brand new unit from best buy today, but.
I just bought a series 2 from someone online last week.
It has an extra hard drive in it that's REALLY noisey.
I thought I'd disconnect it and see what happens as I saw that the original tivo drive was in there still and this appeared to be the secondary.
I do this, obviously not noing how the TiVo file hierarchy works.
Power back up, the hard drive spins up and the black 'powering up' screen comes on and stays like that for a very long time, like ten minutes or so.
I then figure that it's looking for the second drive so I power down and reconnect the second drive.
Now when I plug it back in nothing powers up except for the cooling fan.
Both hard drives do not power up.
All connections look fine. check double check.
Is it dead?
I did bad obviously.
Can I get it working again?
Or if not get the programs off my drive?
Actually send it in for repair???
Help appriciated.
