About to get my DT in the mail today.

I have a Sony SVR-3000 that I am selling on eBay to make room for the DT (I'm a one TV household) and I want to transfer the shows that have been recorded that I haven't watched yet from the SVR-3000 to the DT.

Here's how I imagine I can do it with only one TV, tell me if this is going to work.

- The SVR-3000 is connected to my Home Network via a wireless adapter on an Apple Airport Express wireless network.
- When the DT arrives, I am simply going to unplug the S-Video and Sound Cables from the SVR and attach them to the DT.
- I am going to connect the DT to the wired ethernet port on the Airport Express to have it join my subnet.
- I'll do all of the updates on the DT, restarts, etc. and then (and this I've never done but only heard about) I will have the option of browsing the shows on the SVR and transferring over my home network to the new DT?

That's the last step that I can think of. Then I am just going to erase everything on the SVR, cancel my service for it (month to month $12.95) and sell it on eBay and then that person will have a fresh TiVo to activate when they receive it.

Tell me if there are any flaws in my logic/plan. I still have 5 Days that Unexpectantly Changed America to watch as well as some choice Daily Show / Colbert Report episodes I need to catch up on.

That should work just fine.

Well I just got my Dual Tuner. Fantastic little machine, much quieter (hard drive-wise) than my Sony Series 2 unit.

Thank God I had two airport Express's. I forgot that the Ethernet port was being occupied by the Cable Modem. I was about to unplug the cable modem when I realized that the Dual Tuner would need to access the internet for the Guided Setup.

So I created a Wireless Distribution System using the second Airport Express, and plugged the Dual Tuner into that Ethernet port. The Guided setup went fine and now I am currently transferring all (about 10 hours worth) of shows over to the new Dual Tuner.

Based on the speeds I am getting on transferring a Daily Show episode, it's looking like it will take about 45 minutes to an hour for every half hour of show I am transferring. So I think the Sony will be ready to be packed up, unplugged, and deactivated by tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for your help Dan203, all is well in my household...A thing of beauty this Dual Tuner is, sitting next to my XBox 360 that I picked up yesterday (too many toys this week!)

Here's something I noticed that's different btw. I'm not a big fan of the whole "TiVo Suggestions" thing. Don't ask me why. Anyways, I have my Now Playing List organized by "Groups" or folders and I have TiVo Suggestions turned off. In my Now Playing List there is a Green Folder with a Thumbs Up on it and next to it, it says "TiVo Suggestions (0)". I assume that's there to stay regardless of if I have Suggestions turned on or off.

If you disable Siggestions that folder should go away.

Yeah I did that, I selected and there's currently a checkmark next to the option to not record TiVo Suggestions, yet the folder remains.

I think it will go away just not right away.

You're right, after it was done transferring that episode of the Daily Show, the folder disappeared. Nevermind!
