Decent interview with the VP of Technology Policy and Standards for Philips. Gives some good insight into the state of two-way negotiations, OCAP, differences between cable and the CEA, etc:

Brian Smith gave one of the better "high level overviews" of CEA / cable differences / issues I've seen.

Very interesting. Although I still don't get the point of OCAP. Why can't they simply develope a set of simple communication protocols, then draw up some sort of "required list" for interface features that the cable companies want to make sure are available? I mean as it is now devices like TiVo would have to have two completely different interfaces. One for their own interface and one for the "cable" section of the interface. Not only is that hard for a company like TiVo to impliment, but it's going to confuse the hell out of consumers.
